Summer Position:
Full Time – 40 hours per week
Monday – Friday [8:30 am — 5:00 pm] (Hybrid)

Internship Project Description:
This intern will join the Water Resource Strategy division and will:
- Assist in progressing climate change adaptation principals and strategies at Denver Water
- Assist with components of long-range water resource planning
- Assist with one or multiple elements from the following list, depending on organizational needs and the relevant skill sets and desires of the individual candidate: 1) developing innovative communication strategies for engaging utility employees with climate change adaptation; 2) assist with technical analysis for integrating climate modeling projections and new climate adaptive streamflow forecasting methods into water resource management; 3) research and evaluate innovative technologies relevant to early warning systems and additional climate adaptive strategies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to perform this intern project:
- Interest in climate change adaptation and water resource management
- Good communications skills
- Ability/desire to work independently
- Attention to detail
- Technical data analysis skills will be considered but not required

Hiring Criteria:
The position may be a paid position and/or for school credit. However, the candidate must currently be a student attending college/university or must have graduated in the last six (6) months.
Education Requirements:
- Junior, Senior, or Graduate level student majoring in any field related to water, environmental science, or climate science (e.g. environmental sciences, geography, environmental journalism, communications, engineering, atmospheric science, biology/ecology, creative writing, environmental design) or another field that is not listed here but may also be relevant to advancing climate change adaptation at a water utility
Experience Requirements
- Preferred knowledge of Microsoft Office products, water resources management and hydrology concepts, climate change concepts
- Potential additional relevant experience includes data analysis software, graphic design, GIS applications, innovative communication tools, etc.

During the Summer Intern Program, there are THREE (3) REQUIRED ATTENDANCE EVENTS. All interns must participate.
Intern positions do not come with any benefits other than holiday pay (if the employee worked for more than 20 days before the holiday) and Accrued Paid Sick Leave. Interns and Denver Water Temps accrue one hour of Accrued Paid Sick Leave per 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year per the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
