SankalpTaru Foundation is an IT enabled NGO, spreading greenery with its core philosophy of “planting trees for the people, by the people”. Having rooted and survived close to a million trees across 27 states and some of the majorly polluted cities of India, we are constantly escalating healthy-happy smiles through our trees. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Watershed Management Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in watershed management, combined with expertise in utilizing information technology to support conservation efforts. As a Watershed Management Specialist, you will play a key role in designing and implementing projects aimed at preserving and restoring watersheds in the region.
Job Title: Watershed Management Specialist
Location: Dehradun/ Gurgaon / Pune

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement watershed management plans in collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to identify areas of concern and prioritize conservation efforts.
- Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing technology to analyze land use patterns, hydrology, and other relevant data for effective watershed planning.
- Design and oversee the implementation of soil and water conservation measures, including afforestation, soil erosion control, and water harvesting structures.
- Facilitate capacity-building activities and training workshops for community members on sustainable watershed management practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of watershed management interventions and prepare reports documenting project outcomes and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the organization to integrate IT solutions into watershed management strategies, such as mobile applications for data collection and monitoring.
- Engage in advocacy and outreach activities to raise awareness about the importance of watershed conservation and garner support for our initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Hydrology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience in watershed management or environmental conservation.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing techniques for spatial analysis and mapping.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate conservation projects effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in Hindi and English, both written and verbal, is required. Knowledge of regional languages is a plus.
