TECHNICAL EXPERT- INTEGRATED URBAN WASH

We aim to play a leading role in international efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We have been actively implementing project in South Asia for last 30+ years through our local partners. The current phase of BORDA is targeted towards solving crises growing out of rapid, unplanned urbanization.
We work with small and medium towns and local authorities to enable them in providing their citizens with improved infrastructure facilities and service delivery in WASH sector. BORDA’s holistic, sustainable urban and regional planning approaches ensure efficient, reliable and affordable water, sanitation and energy services.

2. Project Details
The project focuses on the approach of integrated water management for improving municipal water supply and sanitation in small and medium towns in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The main components include – pilot demonstration of integrated and decentralized solutions for improved water and sanitation services, institutional strengthening, incorporation of climate resilience and gender inclusivity in WASH. Our key areas of action include planning, project coordination and supervision support to partners with capacity building and dissemination of project learnings.
The project objective is elucidated as below:
The project contributes to improvement in the living conditions residents of small and medium towns in India, Nepal and Bangladesh through reduction in the health and environmental risks associated with inadequate municipal WASH service delivery. Additionally, it contributes to global efforts on climate change sensitivity and gender inclusivity.
And it aims to provide:
Improved WASH Services to more than 100,000 residents and citizens.
3. Background

BORDA SA is looking for a vibrant and dedicated candidate for the position of “TECHNICAL EXPERT- INTEGRATED URBAN WASH” under its project titled ‘Integrated water management in urban areas as a core task of municipal services of general interest’.

4. Qualification and Requirements
- The candidate must fulfill the following requirements for the position,
- Master’s degree in Urban and Regional planning/ Sustainable development or related fields from reputed university.
- Atleast 8 years’ of relavent professional experience in urban WASH development programs or similar
- Minimum 3 years work experience in project management, with a track record of successful implementation of WASH initiatives.
- Specific experience on Urban WASH policy/governance and climate sensitive planning is desirable.
- Fluency in English. Able to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in multilateral donor management and working with government agencies is desirable.
5. Responsibilities
The candidate is part of senior project management team responsible for overall project delivery and build WASH Planning and Climate specific portfolio of the organization.
The candidate shall be expected to fulfill following responsibilities as a part of the portfolio,
- Lead and manage WASH projects in alignment with annual Plan of Operations (POO), ensuring efficient planning, implementation, and coordination with partners and municipalities. Would be expected to lead a team of 6 planners and WASH professionals.
- Provide and Develop though leadership to the technical portfolio.
- Support development of technical portfolio of the organization specific to small town WASH policy and governance.
- Contribute to developing knowledge-sharing documents, technical writings, publications, best practices, and innovations within the small-town WASH sector.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and industry events to network with relavent stakeholders and facilitate collaboration.
- Identify potential opportunities and lead the design and drafting of funding proposals.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate critical theme such as climate and gender considerations into WASH planning strategies.
- Travelling to various locations within and outside India as per the project requirement.
- Build and draft project proposals for leveraging additional resources.
6. Location
The opportunity would be headquartered in Bangalore; therefore, the candidate is expected to operate out of Bangalore. The opportunity would also require travel (up to 20% of time) to project sites.
7. Date of joining
The selected candidate shall be expected to join the position on or before 1st April 2024
8. Expected CTC
The annual CTC will depend on the work experience and last salary drawn of the candidate and is open to negotiation.
