AAU Energy has a very international environment and covers all areas of clean and sustainable energy systems of the future within electrical, thermal and mechatronic energy technology. AAU Energy has campuses in both Aalborg and Esbjerg, this is in Aalborg.
The mission is to be world leading in both research and research-based education of the energy engineers of the future. AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world.
Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.
Department of Energy offers this position in relation to teaching and research within the area of thermo-mechanical energy engineering. The candidate is expected to take part in interdisciplinary research and collaboration with both academic and industrial partners. Over time, the candidate is expected to contribute to the development of an international recognized research group. Knowledge and experience with funding applications, managerial tasks(e.g., PI and WP leader roles) will be positively evaluated.
The section of Thermal Engineering must fulfill the teaching obligations at the Bachelor education in Energy Engineering, where minimum 50% of all teaching are given in Danish. It is therefore expected that the candidate is willing to learn Danish to be able to teach classes at the B.Sc. education within a period of two years.
Teaching will include both courses and supervision based on the PBL model. The course teaching will primarily be in Chemical process optimization, conventional and thermally driven water treatment processes, and heat and mass transfer, but could also be within other study groups at the university. Previous teaching experience in PBL system will be positively evaluated.
The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to do independent and scholarly research as well as an enthusiasm for engineering education. Furthermore, it will be appreciated that the candidate’s approach to research and teamwork is characterized by an open and inclusive mind-set. Qualified applicants have a Ph.D. degree in a field related to traditional or preferably thermally driven membrane processes and recovery of valuables from wastewater. Experimental and modeling experience with design and optimization of the membrane-based water treatment processes will be positively evaluated.

Qualification requirements:
The level of qualification for Associate Professors shall correspond to the level, which can be achieved on the basis of the appointment as Assistant Professor, but may be achievable in other ways. The appointment presupposes that the applicant can demonstrate original scientific production at an international level as well as documented teaching qualifications. Appointment to the position requires that both research and teaching quallifications are at the requested level. The two qualifications will be given equal and principal priority in the overall assessment.
