Coordinates activities and functions of a designated program to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other The Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory aims to design implementable options to sustain global habitability and improve well-being for all humankind.
We are seeking a Program Coordinator to carry out administrative tasks related to planning, organizing and coordinating activities, and communications for ASU’s Arizona Water Innovation Initiative (AWII). The Arizona Water Innovation Initiative (AWII) is a statewide project led by the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory. The initiative has five strategic programs: the Global Center for Water Technology, the Arizona Water Observatory and Decision Support System, Impact Water – Arizona, Arizona Water for All, and the Kyl Center for Water Policy.
Through this initiative, ASU works with industrial, municipal, agricultural, tribal, and international partners to rapidly accelerate and deploy new approaches and technology for water conservation, augmentation, desalination, efficiency, infrastructure, and reuse.
Under supervision from the Director of Operations, this position will work across all five AWII programs and will collaborate closely with the Global Futures Laboratory and participating units across ASU’s Knowledge Enterprise, Learning Enterprise, and Academic Enterprise.

Essential Duties
- Develops and schedules program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities.
- Confers with and advises staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation; refers to appropriate department person when unable to respond.
- Coordinates activities of program with inter-related activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.
- Develops, compiles, and writes communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinates process from development through printing and distribution.
- Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings or conferences; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
- Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience planning and executing large programs and events.
- Evidence of effective communication skills with an emphasis on clear writing about scientific and technical topics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with marketing and communication tools and strategies in a professional education environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital systems such event management systems (Aventri), file sharing systems (Google Drive, Dropbox, and Airtable), MS Office programs, and database management.
- Experience developing posts for social media outlets including LinkedIn, X, and Instagram.
- Experience with graphics programs including Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience developing branded presentations and other templates for use by others, newsletters, presentation, posters.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- May drive University vehicle and/or cart to campus site.
