Job Overview

The Senior Knowledge Management Specialist is primarily responsible for 1) developing and maintaining a knowledge management framework and related platforms, processes, and resources and 2) ensuring these are integrated within other organizational initiatives and activities. The incumbent in this role will work as a strategic advisor and business partner across functions to define, formalize, and disseminate knowledge assets and services aligned with business needs and strategic objectives.

Job-specific Accountabilities

Knowledge Management Strategy

Develops and manages an internal knowledge management strategy, which accelerates transformation of insights into actionable resources and assets that strategically position Water.org’s unique value. Oversees knowledge management and insights dissemination practices, including partnering to develop and author learning resources for internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge Assets + Services Oversight

Establishes, optimizes, and maintains the organization’s knowledge management guidelines, standards, and tools to facilitate cross-organizational learning and information sharing. Manages executive-level impact reporting and dashboards. Oversees third party service providers’ deliverables and ensures they meet project and/or organizational requirements.

External Engagement Support

Manages Water.org facts and sourcing data for impact messaging. Works collaboratively to integrate insights data and knowledge assets into business development, fundraising and other external-facing activities.

Information + Business Advice

Acts as strategic advisor and technical expert on organizational learning and knowledge management principles and methodologies. Provides departmental support for organizational and departmental initiatives, KPI management, organization, and communications. May participate in cross-functional workgroups, projects, committees, and interact with individuals or groups representing diverse backgrounds, interests, and points of view.

Complexity + Problem Solving Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple requiring interpretation of existing standards and processes to derive appropriate, business-aligned solutions and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex data and concepts in a concise manner (written & verbal) to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to apply effective knowledge management and adaptive learning practices within the water and sanitation and finance sectors.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • At least seven years of progressive professional experience designing and implementing knowledge management, learning strategies and/or managing projects related to insight generation within a complex, global organization.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office software and applications and/or learning management systems and authoring tools.
  • Proficient (written and verbal) in English.

Travel Requirement

Minimal, up to 10% of domestic and/or international travel.

Being authorized to work in the country posted is a precondition of employment.
