We are currently seeking an “Program Analytics Specialist” who will play a critical role in growing UpLink’s use of data to generate insights and inform a variety of UpLink initiatives. This will include work with teams designing challenges (Project Leads), as well as developing data-led systems and processes to support the growth of previously selected winning start-ups (Top Innovators). It will also include UpLink’s Impact Measurement and Management work with Top Innovators on all stages of the data collection and analysis process, as well as communicating insights and trends through data storytelling tools. This role is critical also in designing, assessing, managing and reporting on UpLink’s own impact KPIs.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written), as well as experience in the areas of impact measurement, data analysis, evaluation, and project management.

Reporting Lines and Interactions

The Program Analytics Specialist will sit within the Growth, Partnerships, and Innovation Ecosystems (GPIE) team at UpLink with a direct reporting line to the Head of Growth, Partnerships and Innovation Ecosystems. This role will collaborate closely with all workstreams of UpLink to track, manage, and measure the impact that we are achieving.

In addition, the Program Analytics Specialist will have the responsibility of collaborating closely with different initiatives teams at the Forum for cross-house coordination and keep abreast of the data collection/reporting of other initiatives related to UpLink (e.g. 1t.org, Friends of Ocean Actions, Food and Water, etc.)

Main responsibilities

UpLink Impact Measurement and Management

  • Define, introduce, track and maintain UpLink’s impact KPIs for assessment and measurement according to the UpLink’s Theory of Change.
  • Work with colleagues across the UpLink team on the design and execution of data collection campaigns, ensuring high engagement from Top Innovators and smooth implementation of impact management throughout the end-to-end UpLink project lifecycle.
  • Stay current on good practices within the Impact Measurement space broadly (like indicators and frameworks proposed by organizations like GIIN, IRIS+ and Impact Frontier), as well as good practices and learnings from other initiatives within the Forum; translate into processes necessary to execute UpLink’s impact strategy.
  • Contribute quantitative and qualitative data to UpLink’s Annual Impact Report, as well as any other opportunities to tell the impact stories of Top Innovators through data.

Top Innovator Data Management

  • Build and operationalize systems and tools for collecting and monitoring needed information from Top Innovators, Top Investors, and strategic partners.
  • Work with teams across UpLink to integrate findings and learnings from the data into the programming for Top Innovators and Top Investors, as well as into other work areas across the initiative. 

Challenge Systems

  • Research and identify key insights that inform how UpLink designs and promotes new innovation challenges.
  • Partner with project leads to develop new tools to enhance and scale the Top Innovator or Top Investor (?) submission review and selection processes.
  • Identify methods and practices to ensure the highest level of data quality for inbound submissions.    

Preferred Requirements and Experience

An entrepreneurial candidate sought with impact measurement and project management experience and a strong data mindset: 

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field such as data science, economics, business administration, international relations, public policy, or a related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of professional industry experience with expertise in monitoring and evaluation, impact measurement, data analysis, project management and/or consulting.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills with ability to perform complex data analysis, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis, and familiarity with both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Data Quality Management with knowledge of and experience with data cleaning, data validation, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Project Management Skills with an ability to manage projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing projects.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Salesforce environments and data structures as well as other data warehousing technologies and practices
    • Data Viz tools like Tableau, Power BI, Qliksense,
    • ETL tools like Tableau Prep, Alteryx, Airflow, Dataiku, etc.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills in English, both verbal and written is required.
  • Experience in impact measurement is required
  • Experience in M&E is desirable
  • Strong client orientation.
  • Ability to think strategically and respond appropriately to high-level demands under pressure.
  • Motivated self-starter who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and displaying a proactive approach to problem-solving.
