We drive the transition to a sustainable world by demonstrating the business case for companies to mitigate water risk, encouraging water conservation, and fostering sustainability.
To help fulfill this mission, we are looking for a Senior Water Advisor based in Japan to work with our Japan-based clients, to join the Professional Services team at Waterplan. In this role, you will collaborate with customers, partners, and internal teams to assess water-related risks and recommend mitigation strategies for companies seeking to manage risk and business continuity.

About your core focus
- Own the quality, accuracy, clarity, and timeliness of deliverables to clients. Provide direction and focus to the research needed to meet these objectives.
- Participate along the customer journey as a water subject matter expert and deliver Waterplan’s value proposition.
- Deliver insights and recommendations to our customers through different actions according to their use case and purchase driver.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Customer Success, Water Advisor peers, Science, Sales) as a subject matter expert – on industry, region, or use case – to help our clients achieve their goals and delight them.
- Actively contribute and provide feedback to the Product team to improve and expand our product(s) and services.
- Build internal expertise through formal and informal training.
- Proactively research and share trends and developments in industry, policy, news, etc. both within the organization and externally.
Skills and Qualifications
- Be located in Japan
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and comfortable presenting clearly and concisely to C-suite/VPs/Directors.
- Proactive and hands-on with a collaborative and iterative continuous improvement mindset and approach.
- Highly organized with the ability to self-train and manage own time and deliverables effectively.
- Ability with Google Suite (spreadsheets, presentations, etc.).
- Experience working in a consulting or technical advisory capacity.
- Degree (Masters preferred) in a water-related science or engineering discipline.
- Technical expertise in one or more (several preferred) of the following areas: water resources management; mining and/or industrial water efficiency, treatment, reuse, and recycling; risk assessment and mitigation planning; and water rights, regulations, standards, and policy.
