Overview of position
On Sunday, 10 September 2023, Storm Daniel made landfall in Libya causing severe weather conditions and catastrophic flooding in northeastern parts of the country. IOM recognizes the urgency of addressing humanitarian needs for all affected and displaced people.
Therefore, in the aftermath of this emergency, the pressing need for shelter and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services has become of paramount importance. The role of the National Shelter and WASH Officer is pivotal in this context, as he or she is tasked with the coordination on the ground, monitoring of progress of WASH activities, roll out of assessment, and provision of essential engineering technical backstopping support for emergency shelter and WASH interventions.
