At the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Chair of Water Management, we are filling the following position at the earliest possible date on a temporary basis for the duration of the project ending “Energie aus Abwasser”:

Research Assistant (m/f/d)
EG 13 TV-L, full-time employment, 40 hours/week, limited, project position

Tasks and Responsibilities

• independent work on a research project on an enhanced anaerobic digestion of excess sludge in WWTP and subsequent treatment processes (P-recovey, dewatering)
• operation, optimization of the digestion process in pilot scale
• design, test, optimization of subsequent P-recovery and dewatering processes
• close cooperation with the SME’s and WWTP operators
• reporting to the partners and the funding organisation
• scientific publication of the results (journals, conferences)
• the position is suitable for dissertation

Requirements

• completed university studies (state examination, diploma, master’s degree or comparable degree)
• in waste/water management, environmental/chemical/biological process engineering, environmental technology or similar with at least a good degree
• knowledge of physical/chemical laboratory analysis of organic residues, waste water etc.
• initial experience in planning, conducting and evaluating process engineering experiments,
• ideally in anaerobic digestion of organic residues, wastewater treatment, P-recovery, phase separation
• minimum physical aptitude for working several hours in the laboratory
• good command of written and spoken English, communication skills in German
• self-employed and structured working style, ability to meet deadlines, ability to work in a team
• willingness for own scientific qualification and publication

• employment relationship in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal States (TV-L) with the employer Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, represented by the University of Rostock
