SALARY INDICATION: 2,800 to 3,500 EUR (monthly gross – all inclusive)

Profile
Join us at the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) as Junior Program Officer – Water Resource Management and embark or continue your journey as climate adaptation expert. As part of the Water and Urban team, you will play a vital role in GCA’s mission as a solutions broker in the field of climate adaptation. You pro-actively support the team on a range of program activities under the African Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP) and in South Asia, with a specific focus on climate resilient water resource management. You support the procurement and implementation of technical assistance projects, manage contracts and partnerships, and other exciting tasks. You will collaborate closely with experts from all over the world, gain exposure to diverse (GCA) programs, and enjoy field visits to deepen your impact. Your work shapes and realizes climate adaptation strategies for urban resilience at scale that work for all. Responsibilities
Under the oversight of the Director of Programs, and directly reporting to the Global Lead Water and Urban, you will support the implementation of a pipeline of technical assistance projects in the area of climate resilient water resource management, that shapes and expands GCA’s partnerships with Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs), such as the African Development Bank and World Bank, to drive and scale up on-the-ground adaptation acceleration and create space and energy for innovation. This includes:
- Supporting the procurement and oversight of highly innovative and transformative technical assistance projects to water-related climate adaptation and climate resilient water governance investment projects and programs of MDB’s.
- Providing hands-on and practical support to the team in the development of the project pipeline, procurement, progress tracking, and reporting.
- Supporting the preparation of knowledge products – e.g., briefs, presentations, reports – on GCA’s activities.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in environmental studies, development studies, civil engineering, water management, planning, public administration, or other relevant fields.
- One to two years of relevant experience related to water-related adaptation and resilience building.
- Conceptual understanding of key subject areas such as climate adaption, climate resilient water governance and water resource management.
- Willingness to travel to project locations in Africa or Asis for at least 4 to 5 times a year.
- Working knowledge of French considered to be of additional advantage.
