The EIB, the European Union’s bank, is seeking to recruit for Projects Directorate (PJ) – Environment & Natural Resources Department (ENR) – Water Management Division (WM), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 01st March/April 2024)

OBJECTIVE OF THE TRAINEESHIP

As a trainee, you will support the Sector Specialists of the Project Directorate in enhancing the water and waste sector by producing datasets and communication materials based on evidence produced by analysing lending operations data and engaging with colleagues.

You will also undertake the research/update/create of water/waste/circular economy presentation material through dialogue within the sector experts and economists in order to provide the final presentation material for the divisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the guidance of the senior specialist in the Environment and Natural Resources Department of the Project Directorate, you shall (among other related tasks):

  • Update/Create/Research Initiatives (such as European Commission (EC) Water Resilience Initiative, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) working group on water, Multilateral Development Banks (MDB) working group on water, One Water Summit, among others);
  • Update Water/Waste Data related information, including portfolio of projects, relevant events, etc;
  • Update Division Presentations (including International Conferences and Events -such as One Water Summit-);
  • Prepare some information articles regarding water/waste/circle economy projects for publication/promotion;
  • Develop/update presentations for Circular Economy and Waste Management; and
  • Develop materials to be used in the Head of Division meeting part of the Water Harmonization Group of the Multilateral Organizations.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Final year of studies or University degree in Natural Resources, Water or Agronomic Engineering/ Economy or Environmental Engineering/ Finance/ Economics, Forestry Engineering/ Economy, or any other related filed.
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken), good working knowledge of French and /or Spanish would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of European Union policies and regulations and relevant public/ private markets in the field would be an advantage.
