Your job
Are you an economic or social science aquaculture researcher keen to support public and private policy makers in making decisions on sustainable aquaculture, balancing economic, social and ecological impacts? Do you want to contribute towards future-proofing the aquaculture sector globally and in Europe? If so, we have an interesting research position for you at Wageningen Economic Research.
Marine and coastal areas offer opportunities for sustainable new forms of aquaculture that contribute to biodiversity restoration, livelihoods and the supply of food. Emerging forms of aquaculture such as seaweed cultivation are a promising source for alternative proteins and renewable energy. These opportunities call for careful balancing of interests of public, private, and societal actors. A key question is how aquaculture can be developed in such a way that it strengthens ecosystems and provides safe food in a sustainable and fair way.
Work on challenging issues.

We support national and international governments, NGOs and businesses with research results and advice, in close collaboration with other world leading research experts within Wageningen University and Research. You will present research results in a clear manner, for example through presentations, workshops, (interactive) reports and scientific publications. Based on these results, you provide independent advice to our clients.
