Introduction
The Department of Natural Resources is hiring for the Lakes and Rivers Section Chief in the Natural Resources Program Manager classification in the Water Quality Bureau within the Division of Environmental Management. This position is located at the Madison, Wisconsin Office. There is an opportunity to telework for up to 60% of the workweek dependent on work needs.

Position Summary
This position administers the lakes and rivers section responsible for the surface water grants program, aquatic invasive species program, the aquatic plant management program and associated protection and restoration partnerships and administrative policies. The position develops and implements policy, administers the program and advises the bureau director, department administration and regional management and staff on the lakes and rivers program, surface water grants program, aquatic invasive species program, the aquatic plant management program and other administrative policy including maintaining partnerships for effective program implementation.

Salary Information
Starting pay for this level is $42.46 – $50.81 / hour ($88,316.80 – $105,684.80 annually).
This position is in Pay Schedule/Range 81-02. A two-year Career Executive trial period may be required. Pay on appointment for current or former state employees will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

Some statewide travel is required to conduct business with department district offices, service centers, and external partners.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include experience in BOTH the following criteria:
- Experience leading a team, or supervisory experience (e.g. responsible for coaching/mentoring, project management, leading policy development team, etc.).
- Professional work experience within natural resources management, focused on water.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Aquatic Invasive Species management and/or Aquatic Plant management experience
- Water Resources Protection planning
- Partnership building experience, in relation to watershed protection and/or watershed enhancements
