Context:
Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (JSCF) is registered in India as a not for profit company under Chapter 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. JSCF, is an associate member of WaterAid International and uses the brand name ‘WaterAid’ in India.
WaterAid India seeks to improve access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for everyone, everywhere.

WaterAid India’s (WAI) country office is based in New Delhi with State Offices in Bhopal, Raipur, Bhubaneswar,
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Patna and Lucknow. We currently work in 12 states across the country.
WAI’s Programme focus in the next five years is on ensuring that communities – especially low-income families – are WASH secure i.e. with assured access to safe drinking water at the household level; with safely managed sanitation’ institutions such as anganwadi’s, schools and health care facilities with adequate and appropriate WASH infrastructure and with good hygiene behaviours. We seek to do this through demonstration and the provision of technical and knowledge support to governments at all levels who can facilitate this adoption on scale.
Roles & Responsibility:
- Support State Program Director for planning and implementation of district specific action plan. Provide support to Technical Specialist and community Facilitator – Institution Building to carry out their work in the district.
- Lead and manage the district project team ensuring objectives of the project are met effectively within the desired timeline.
- Provide guidance and supervise project implementation. Delegate work to Community Mobilisers, carry out regular monitoring and ensure quality of deliverables.
- Stakeholder engagement at the district, block and project GP level.
- Support in periodic reporting, documentation (case study, photo-documentation, success stories etc.
- Support the state office in vendor/s identification, field level record maintenance and support Project Coordinator for MIS data.
Eligibilities and requirements
Education
- Post-graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, social work, rural development, natural resource management, environment science.
- Additional qualification in water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) will be an added advantage.
Experience
- About 3-5 years of relevant work experience in similar role.
- Experience of working on Watershed will be an added advantage Other specifications
- Experience in managing programmes in a multi-stakeholder environment. Experience in coordinating with district administration and PRIs.
- Experience of managing field team and community mobilisation.
- Sound understanding of issues pertaining to water conservation.
- Communications and presentation skills, both written and oral, in English, and Hindi.
- Proactive and self-motivated individual capable of engaging with various stakeholders
- A self-starter, able to work independently
- A team player, able to work in a collaborative way
- Ability to travel extensively in project GPs
- Ability to meet strict timelines
