What will you do

Our climate is changing, from increasing temperatures and shifting precipitation patterns, to rising sea levels and more frequent and severe weather events. Alongside this, the global economy is embarking on a low carbon transition. At Royal HaskoningDHV, we help governments, businesses, and communities plan for, and adapt to these changes. We also support clients to navigate the uncertainties of a low-carbon transition, identifying climate-related risks, and developing strategies to build resilience to emerging shocks and stresses.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate Junior Water Management and Climate Resilience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to international water management projects, focusing on areas such as flood modeling, early warning systems, and stormwater management. You will play a key role in the preparation of Expressions of Interest (EOIs), project proposals and project execution, helping us secure funding for critical projects that address pressing global challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • International Water Management Projects:
    • Contributing to the planning and execution of international water management projects.
    • Working on flood modeling, early warning systems, and stormwater management initiatives within our Resilience team.
    • Collaborating with a diverse team of experts to achieve project goals.
    • Support communication materials such as presentations, deliverable reports for coordination with clients, partners and stakeholders
  • EOI/Proposal Preparation:
    • Assisting in the preparation of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and project proposals.
    • Conducting research and analysis to support proposal development.
    • Support coordination between the client requirements and competences of the project team (colleagues, partners, organizational, etc.)

Collaborating with senior team members to create compelling project proposals.

What you bring

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering/Water Management/Hydrology or related;
  • Around 1-6 years of relevant work experience;
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of water management, climate resilience issues, operational systems, flood early warning, water-digital solutions, preferably in international projects.
  • Affinity or work experience in multidisciplinary international projects: consultancy, project management, writing of proposals;
  • Preferably experience in preparing successful proposals for international projects in the water management sector, preferably for larger consortia
  • Commercially sensitive and focused on optimizing business results;
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software is desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements; team player and enthusiasm in working together with colleagues and clients abroad.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Tactful, diplomatic and persuasive to empower local beneficiaries effectively
  • Stress resilient and flexible, willing to travel abroad regularly (short term missions).
  • Willingness to travel internationally for project assignments as needed.
  • Excellent written, reporting, presentation and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
