In this role, you will work in a multidisciplinary team, influencing and partnering with a diverse group of internal and external partners and stakeholders, and serve as the main point of contact on water sustainability and climate risk at Gilead.

Location: Foster City, CA – Site Based – Hybrid – T-TH Onsite Required M&F WFH

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR POSITION

Water Stewardship Strategy and Programs:

  • Identify and prioritize water-related risks and opportunities across the company’s operations and supply chain.
  • Develop a comprehensive water stewardship strategy aligned with Gilead’s sustainability goals.
  • Develop water stewardship programs including replenishment projects and watershed health initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and implement water stewardship practices into business processes.
  • Evaluate project attributes, conduct due diligence, and monitor program performance.
     

Climate Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct climate risk assessments to evaluate the potential impact of climate change across the company’s entire value chain.
  • Maintain and update the results of physical and transition risk models
  • Develop and/or monitor mitigation and adaptation strategies to address identified climate risks.
  • Drive the execution of climate risk mitigation projects aligned with the strategy
  • Stay informed about evolving climate science and regulations to ensure the company’s preparedness and resiliency
     

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry partners, to stay current on water and climate-related trends and initiatives.
  • Foster partnerships and collaboration with relevant organizations to enhance the company’s sustainability efforts.
  • Build internal stakeholder relationships and trust to drive alignment, collaboration, and execution of water stewardship and climate risk mitigation programs.
     

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to water usage, quality, and climate risk indicators.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders to communicate progress and impact.
     

Knowledge, Skills, And Experience:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, or Engineering with 8 years or a Masters Degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in the development and/or management of water stewardship programs.
  • Experience with stakeholder management in the water stewardship field is required.
  • Experience with procurement, contracts, and vendor management is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of other key sustainability topics.

The salary range for this position is: $160,820.00 – $208,120.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
