Hydroinformatics Institute (“H2i”) is looking to strengthen its modelling team with a Junior Coastal Modeller to support execution and management of consultancy projects in the field of climate change adaptation planning and management in the coastal zone, including harbours, ports, reclamation and beaches.

What you will do as our Junior Coastal Modeller

  • Develop, calibrate, validate coastal storm surge, wave and sediment transport models developed with a variety of software (e.g. Delft3D, SWAN, SWASH, MIKE, XBeach)
  • Execute and manage consultancy projects related to coastal projects and real-time control applications within projects.
  • Support in preparing technical reports and technical meeting presentation for projects.
  • Support in documentation related to consultancy projects and model development.
  • Communicate with project managers and team leads to discuss project progress and project related matters on a regular basis.
  • Contribute to technical proposals.

It will be a good fit if you

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (Civil/Environmental engineering, Water resources management), or Master’s degree in Numerical modelling
  • Have 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Are experience in working with coastal software packages (e.g., Delft3D or MIKE coastal modelling suite)
  • Are a team-player

It will be a bonus if you

  • Have experience with scripting languages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB)
  • Have experience in management of consultancy projects
  • Have experience with QGIS, or other geospatial software
  • Are able to communicate and present ideas clearly within and outside of own domain.
