This role will support the development and delivery of Deakin units using Project Orientated Design Based Learning (PODBL) pedagogy, with a particular focus on contribution to teaching teams in Environmental and Civil Engineering aligned unit delivery as well as contributing to core engineering units across the school.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining deep discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design
  • Adopting innovation in curriculum design at the unit level
  • Delivering learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery
  • Integrating industry, clinical and/or research practice to teaching
  • Leading unit teaching teams and works collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course
  • Initiating, designing, conducting and potentially leading productive, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs
  • Engaging collaboratively to develop novel and high-quality research or creative activities

Key selection criteria for this role:

  • PhD in Water/Environmental engineering or a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design
  • emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding
  • ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching
  • capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
  • excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
