At APEM, we take pride in the diversity of our water quality team’s responsibilities, providing an array of projects and addressing critical issues being faced by the water industry. Our expertise encompasses comprehensive water and sediment quality monitoring, offering analysis and interpretation services for all aquatic environments – rivers, lakes, canals, and reservoirs. Additionally, we’re at the forefront of understanding the impact of overflows and discharges on water quality, employing innovative biological data monitoring and analysis (e.g. SOAF). Moreover, we play a pivotal role in coordinating APEM’s response to pollution incidents. Our capabilities extend to algal bloom and taste and odour compound assessment and management, along with providing Ecological Clerk of Works services.
In this crucial position, you’ll lead your team in winning and delivering projects across our comprehensive range of water quality technical services. Your expertise will be instrumental in crafting high-quality and compliant tenders, while your analytical skills will drive the delivery of high quality data analysis and technical reports. Collaborating closely with our Associate Directors and other Principal Consultants, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the Water Quality team. Your influence will extend to expanding our work streams, customer base, and service offerings, allowing you to make a profound impact on the industry and the environment.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- BSc or MSc degree in a relevant subject and at least five years’ professional experience in freshwater environmental water quality work.
- Knowledgeable in water and sediment quality assessment and management including at least one of the following: water quality impact assessments, modelling, reservoir management, catchment management, algal blooms, taste and odour, lake nutrient budgeting, and lake restoration.
- An understanding of key UK environmental legislation.
- Some staff management/development.
- Experience of supporting proposals and tenders.
