- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $144,140 to $146,966 + super
The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.
The Water Knowledge branch at Department of Planning and Environment is seeking a Lead Hydrogeologist responsible for the development and implementation of high quality hydrogeological advice, technical assessment, analysis and review of groundwater issues to enable the sustainable management of groundwater in NSW and to support the development of policies and regulation.
About You
Our Lead Hydrogeologist identifies knowledge gaps, lead investigations and develop solutions that address groundwater impact, groundwater stream interactions, dependent ecosystems science, groundwater quality, planning and policy gaps and represent the Department at a senior level in industry, academic, community, state and national forums to promote the understanding of groundwater resource across the state.
Leading a team of up to 8 direct reports, you will work closely with Managers, Team Leaders and Principal Hydrogeologist, to foster a positive and collaborative team culture, ensuring effective resource distribution, whole of team delivery and consistency of approach to deliver complex single and multi-disciplinary projects for effective natural resource management outcomes for NSW.
Key Knowledge and Experience
- Sound working knowledge of the NSW Government’s natural resource management agenda.
- Acquired experience on field hydrogeology, impact characterisation and management, working using the applicable regulatory environment and preparation of high-end deliverables.
Essential Requirements
- Appropriate degree level tertiary qualifications in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences or related disciplines.
