We are currently looking for an experienced hire in Leeds with well-developed skills in technical appraisal and business case development.
The Opportunity
This opening is for an engineer/scientist with specialist experience in Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management economics, benefit cost analysis and the technical appraisal skills to enable us to deliver a significant forward workload with the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities. The individual would be capable of undertaking economic appraisal work for flood alleviation and coastal erosion risk management projects using Defra/HM Treasury guidance. We are looking for an innovative and creative individual, with strong technical/digital skills and a passion for developing business cases for sustainable solutions.
Is this role right for you?
If successful, you will be working with the Environment Agency to deliver economic appraisal business case developments, mainly focusing on appraisals for costs associated with flooding. You will assist with the appraisal and delivery of a major programme of capital schemes to reduce flood risk. Looking at communities or locations that have a history of flooding and looking at the best ways to protect these areas. You will be involved in the technical flood alleviation scheme appraisal using the FCERM-AG, the EA Partnership Funding calculator and all in compliance with HM Treasury. Also, you will be involved in the development and design of fluvial flood risk management solutions, producing deliverables to required quality, agreed timelines and within budget.
Requirements:
- Technical experience in FCERM project appraisal, options development and outline design
- Experience of hydraulic modelling and / or hydrology for fluvial flood risk
- Experience in the use of GIS
- Working in an Office 365 environment, including use of SharePoint
- Well-developed skills in technical appraisal and business case development
