  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $97,933 to $108,202 plus super and leave loading

Our Water and Wetlands Science team is currently seeking to appoint one Wetland Spatial Scientist to be part of our team dedicated to monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the health of iconic wetlands in the Murray-Darling Basin, through the use of spatial analysis and remote sensing techniques.

About You

You will be involved in the remote sensing of satellite imagery to track floodplain wetland inundation, spatial data analysis and data management to support environmental water management. You will contribute to computer-based data processing, data preparation and analysis, interpreting results, and assisting with the preparation of technical reports and other information products. You will communicate outcomes with both expert and non-expert audiences. The role will involve some field work in remote locations.

This is an excellent opportunity for one enthusiastic remote sensing scientist/ spatial data analyst to contribute to vital monitoring and evaluation of wetland inundation across the NSW Murray-Darling Basin. The team innovates and responds to dynamic conservation goals. We also offer career development and advancement opportunities.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in computer-based remote sensing and spatial analysis of environmental data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data management, ArcGIS and other remote sensing software.
  • Experience with scripting in ‘python’.
  • Relevant scientific degree.
  • Current Australian Class C Drivers licence as the role will involve travel.
