Position Details
About the role
As the Program Leader Ecological Water, you will lead liaison on environmental water and aquatic ecology matters with the catchment management authorities, DEECA, the Victorian Environmental Water Holder (VEWH), water authorities and other agencies to improve outcomes for rivers, floodplains, and wetlands in parks. You will also ensure requirements for ecological water management, including consideration of climate change, are incorporated into conservation action plans and other plans and submissions.
As part of your day-to-day duties, you will provide strategic advice to regional staff regarding environmental water planning and delivery as well as related infrastructure developments; contribute to policies and strategies related to the management of water regimes; and build networks and relationships with staff in Parks Victoria and other agencies.
We’re looking for someone with:
- A tertiary qualification in ecology, environmental science, or environmental management or similar.
- Experience in working in environmental water or freshwater ecology including the provision of technical analysis and advice.
- Demonstrated ability and experience to analyse and interpret ecological information and to understand and communicate their implications for environmental management.
- Knowledge of legislation, regulations, guidelines, policies, and practices in relation to ecological water preferably within a government organisation.
