Sundarban Social Development Centre (SSDC) is a non-government organization situated at the Sundarban delta region of West Bengal, India. Since its advent as a social development organization in 1989, SSDC has been keeping itself involved for the well-being of the people living at disaster prone Sundarban island areas, which are typically identified as socio economically backward in all scenes of remoteness and poor living standard. Most of the people here poorest of the poor category, for which they are living behind the ray of modernisation and development yet. Being a registered NGO under the Society Registration Act 1961, SSDC is devoted and is working for the last 3 decades for the wellbeing of the people of South 24 Parganas district since its inception. Presently we are running several community-based development activities in the areas of Mother and Child Health, Education, Nutrition, Women Empowerment, Livelihood, Water, Sanitation, Eye health care and services including Environment Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction activities in the district of South 24 Parganas while giving special attention to the remotest Sundarban island areas.
To implement a new project named “Arogya Swasthyakendra-An Initiative to create healthy Health Care Facility through strengthening system to improve WASH in HCFs”, at present, SSDC needs the following staff –
One (1) Training & Advocacy Facilitator
Key responsibilities:
• Coordination of all training activities under the project.
• Coordinating with health authority for orientation on WASH FIT for KAYAKALP committee members.
• Follow up with health authorities for regularizing assessment of WASH facilities using WASH FIT or similar tool.
• Regular monitoring of field activities and handholding support to Field Coordinators.
• Supporting WASH improvement activities in health care facilities in project.
• Coordination for training of cleaning service providers on Infection, prevention and control measures.
• Capacity building of the project team.
• Coordination with district and block level government health officials for organizing workshop for improving WASH in Health care facilities.
• Maintaining liaison with PRI, government officials and other key stakeholders.
• Advocacy with government and the PRI members for improving WASH in Health care facility.
• Supporting Project coordinator in implementation of project activities.
• Reporting of training and advocacy with proper documentation.
• Cross checking reporting submitted by Field Coordinators.
• Support project coordinator in budget forecasting.
• Support Project Coordinator in reporting
• Any other duties assigned by the Senior Management team of SSDC.
Please note that the candidate needs to relocate to rural setting, i.e., the Kakdwip Subdivision under South 24 parganas district of West Bengal.
Qualification required: Graduate in Social science. Masters in Social Works or in equivalent subject(s) will be preferred.
Experience required: 5 years minimum in social development sector in West Bengal as Training Coordinator and/or Advocacy Officer.
Technical proficiency: Should be a confident user of MS-Office, independent handling of e-mail & internet.
Language proficiency: Bengali is a must (both verbal and writing) and expertise in English writing.
Age limit: Maximum 40 years as on 01.08.2023
Salary: Rs. 20000/- Per Month (Consolidated). Please note that Tax deduction will apply in accordance with the prevailing Income tax legislation / policy of Government of India.
