What We Are Looking For
Our Division of Impacts on Agriculture, forests and Ecosystem Services (IAFES), located in Viterbo and Lecce, is looking for a new position of Post-degree or Post-doc researcher, responsible for developing algorithms for the improvements of water footprint calculation in temporary rivers in semi-arid areas. In particular the quality aspects will be modelled considering the impacts of nutrients and pesticides from agricultural activities. The candidate will adopt hydrological models with dedicated modules for leaching and runoff components. The activities will also include collaboration on writing of peer-reviewed publications as well as communication of findings through reporting and/or participation in conferences.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in hydrological based sciences addressed to land management
- Knowledge of lumped to (semi-)distributed hydrological models (e.g. SWAT)
- An excellent knowledge of Italian language and knowledge of English language;
- Good communication skills and teamworking attitude.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Knowledge of GIS
- Knowledge of the dynamics of temporary rivers in Mediterranean areas
- A first-stage record of scientific publications in the field
Compensation & Benefits
- The appointment period will be initially of n° 6 months starting from October 2023, renewable pending a positive evaluation and funds availability. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher;
- The gross salary for six months is around 12-15 Euros, depending on qualification and working experience;
- Flexible working time;
- Support during the immigration process, if needed.
