The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.

The Water Operations team at Department of Planning and Environment is seeking a Water Regulation Officer to undertake education and approvals projects to ensure effective, efficient, transparent and accountable regulation measures to maintain public confidence in the water management regulatory system.

About You

Our Water Regulation Officer provides specialist information and advice on licensing and approvals procedures, policy and legislation to staff, community and stakeholders to increase understanding for the appropriate access to water resources.

You will undertake a broad range of specialist administrative and office management tasks and projects in relation to water management in NSW to include the preparation of Ministerial and Executive correspondence and communication of key water regulation issues.

Provide technical advice and expertise to assist in the achievement of environmental best practice and the consistent application of environmental legislation, policy and procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of licensing and approvals in relation to water resource regulation in NSW in a high achieving and supportive team.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of the aims and principles of sustainable natural resource management

Essential requirements

  • Occasional intra-state travel requiring periods of being away from home
  • Current NSW Drivers License
