Coastal Hydrogeology Lab at the Department of Marine and Coastal Environmental Science, Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) is recruiting PhD students with possible start dates of Spring or Fall 2024. The objective of the project is to study submarine groundwater discharge in Galveston Bay, coastal groundwater-surface water interaction, and biogeochemical processes in coastal aquifer/subterranean estuary. These will involve field work (collecting water samples and sediment cores), analyze physicochemical and microbial data in laboratory, and use the resulting data to improve coastal hydrogeological models in Texas Gulf Coast area. The position covers tuition, fees, monthly stipend, and health insurance. This position will remain open until filled.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in (hydro)geology, biogeochemistry, marine science, or closely related fields.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience using radon detector or radium measurement (RAD7, RaDeCC, or gamma spec) or analyzing large data sets using R is preferred, but not required.
