PROSPECT RESEARCHER

Main Areas of Focus: Donor prospecting and research, portfolio management, fundraising strategy, systems optimization, data analysis

Location: Remote – U.S. only.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to any applicant based in the U.S., eligible to work in the U.S., or with an existing U.S. work permit.

JOB HIGHLIGHT 

You’ll help drive a comprehensive strategy to develop lasting donor relationships through research, donor  management system optimization, and data-focused departmental support. 

JOB SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Head of Key Relationships, the Prospect Researcher will be responsible for charity: water’s prospect and donor research functions and strategy, and support all fundraising departments across the organization. You’ll work directly with our Executive team to produce reports for potential donors to help present our mission in the most thoughtful manner, and support our fundraisers by identifying and researching prospective and current donors. You’ll partner with our Development Operations team to help build a moves management system to advance and enhance our donor relationships, and maintain donor data cleanliness. 

YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…

●      Partnering with and making recommendations to the Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Global Water Officer and CEO to support the cultivation of high capacity donors and prospects

●      Executing best-in-class wealth screening and research practices, as well as recommending and managing a suite of research tools to support all fundraising teams

●      Developing comprehensive research profiles and completing one-off targeted requests for members of the Key Relationships, Brand Partnerships and UK teams to provide a clear context of donor backgrounds, financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and the nature of the relationship to the organization

●      Based on research conducted, advising on ideal next steps for cultivation, stewardship and solicitation, as appropriate, for the Key Relationships, Brand Partnerships and UK teams

●      Proactively tracking and disseminating donor and prospect-related news and information to the Development Operations, Key Relationships, Brand Partnerships, and Executive teams to identify potential new relationships and properly maintain current donor relationships

●      Optimizing a comprehensive moves management data structure and process flow in Salesforce alongside the Development Operations team

●      Maintaining and cleaning donor information in Salesforce and providing historical giving information and impact reporting for existing charity: water donors in partnership with the Development Operations team

●      Analyzing geographic areas and industries to identify strategic goals and fundraising viability in particular sectors

●      Safeguarding the confidentiality of constituent information by keeping up to date and adhering to the principals of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation and California’s Consumer Privacy Act in partnership with General Counsel

YOU MUST HAVE… 

●      A bachelor’s degree

●      3+ years of research experience on a fundraising team

●      In-depth experience working in a CRM

●      Experience in iWave, RelSci, LexisNexis, Foundation Search or other research platforms

●      Proven proficiency in Excel

●      A team-orientation and strong work ethic

●      Highly developed interpersonal skills

●      Formal training in Excel

●      Project management experience

●      Experience effectively using Salesforce as a CRM tool
