Background
The Rivers Trust is a leading environmental charity and the umbrella body of The Rivers Trust movement, comprising over 60 independent local charities. Our vision is for wild, healthy, natural rivers, valued by all. We are at a critical point in our history as we expand to deliver projects to protect and replenish this critical part of the natural environment, and our research and expertise is now needed more urgently than ever as water supply and quality move up the public agenda.
In collaboration with The Rivers Trust, we are looking for a Data and Evidence Officer to play a pivotal role in the new North West Farm Hub project. The project contributes to United Utilities wider commitment, Better Rivers: Better North West. The project aims to create a structured and targeted agricultural network across the North West. This network will help The Rivers Trust movement collaborate with farmers to ensure productive agriculture and healthy rivers co-exist.
The Data and Evidence Officer will support over 10 farm cluster groups and their associated local River Trusts in identifying their data collection needs. This is to provide ecosystem service analysis, including but not limited to: Water Stewardship, Biodiversity, Carbon, and Natural Flood Management. Upskilling local River Trusts in data collection via online and in-person training will be required as well as disseminating and sharing learning with the North West Farm Hub. They will also co-ordinate with The Rivers Trust and assist with any reporting requirements.
This position will be hosted by Wyre Rivers Trust and the successful candidate will be considered a Wyre Rivers Trust member of staff, despite funding for the role coming from multiple organisations.
Hybrid working arrangements apply as you will be expected to travel around the North West on occasion to assist and network with other member trusts involved in the project (Eden, West Cumbria, South Cumbria, Lune, Ribble, Mersey), this will likely be required 1-3 days per month.
