Senior Policy Analyst – Climate Resilient WASH
Contract: 2 years, Fixed Term Contract, Full time
Location: The role can be based in the United Kingdom, Rwanda, Senegal or South Africa subject to the right to work eligibility in the respective country.

Role-based in:
- United Kingdom: Grade 2: 53,065 – 55,718 GBP with excellent benefits
- Rwanda: Grade G, 30,868,907 – 40,000,000 RWF
- Senegal: Grade G, 31,837,170 – 42,709,202 XOF
- South Africa: Grade G, 950,000 – 1,191,126 ZAR
For the UK location, we offer Hybrid Working – A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in the London office or as a result of an external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base for candidates based in the United Kingdom.

We need to demonstrate what climate resilience looks like and make the case for urgent investment in these interventions. Otherwise these communities will face deepening and cascading water crises. About the Team:
This position will be based in the Policy Team, which consist of a highly motivated group of 11 policy analysts, who are passionate about influencing policy change through evidence-based advocacy to enable sustainable access to WASH to the world’s poorest and most marginalised people.
As our innovative and ambitious Senior Policy Analyst for Climate Resilient WASH, you contribute to defining clear narratives for climate resilience WASH policies. You will act as a recognised WaterAid spokesperson and expert advisor on climate change and climate resilient WASH; and support our case clearly and confidently with research, policy briefs, and media narratives.
About the Role:
In this role, you will contribute to the articulation of clear narratives of WaterAid’s climate resilient WASH to help to influence increased flow of climate funds for water, sanitation and hygiene particularly for the world’s poorest people and communities. You will play a major part in realising WaterAid’s ambition to strengthen the resilience of WASH to climate change and achieve national change through its research, policy work global advocacy priorities and campaigns.
About You:
- Experience of working in public policy and/or advocacy on policy issues related to climate change and climate resilient water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
- Understanding of climate policies and demonstrated ability to push WASH within the climate debate and advocating for increased climate financing to sanitation and water supply for basic human needs
- Knowledge and understanding of the impact of climate change on water resources management for WASH and the corresponding policy implications to ensure that water for WASH is prioritised amongst other water use polices
- Knowledge and understanding of climate change impacts and the role that WASH can play in adaptation and building resilient in countries in Africa and Asia;
- Demonstrated ability and experience of influencing a national government in Africa or South Asia climate resilient policy that includes WASH, water resources management or water security;
- Experience of building the networks and coalitions required to drive an effective change agenda – especially with major international agencies (multilateral development banks, United Nations agencies, OECD, UN Water etc.), governments and NGOs
- University degree in water resources management, Environmental Sciences or other climate related disciplines and research experience
