For our Geo unit in Delft, we are looking for a Head of Department Soil Water and Structures (SWS).
What do you do as department head of Soil Water and Structures?
As department head, you play a crucial role in the success of the people and organisation. The SWS department works on great consultancy and research projects involving the interaction between soil, (ground) water and hydraulic/geotechnical structures. Examples include developing methods to maintain our quay walls in old inner cities or finding out the causes of damage in tunnels and construction pits, for example.
As head of department SWS, your main tasks are:
- Leading a group of about 25 consultants, researchers and project technicians;
- Coaching teams and people in your department on organisational, personal and career goals;
- Thinking along with fellow department heads and the unit manager of Geo on the strategic direction and operational management of the unit. You will contribute to increasing the quality and impact of our work;
- Stimulating internal and external collaborations. You look for new opportunities in the field of knowledge development by actively building and deploying your network in a public-private context.You make use of your knowledge of hydraulic engineering works and constructions.
Within the unit, you will be given space and coaching to further shape your role as department head and your personal development. The appointment period for this position is initially 4 years with the prospect of reappointment.

- Salary will be based on your experience with a maximum of €8,070.24 gross per month based on 40 hours per week;
