CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The WASH Assistant Software will be primarily responsible for supervising the implementation of hygiene promotion activities at the village level as directed by tand the WASH Officer Software. Facilitation of focus group discussions, visits to sites and infrastructures, and meeting with key members of the community. Participate in hygiene promotion campaigns, prepare written material for the field, and elaborate clear and adapted messages for beneficiaries. He/She will participate in emergency preparedness activities and be ready to respond in the event of an emergency, as required particularly as part of the WASH intervention, to safeguard and improve the public health of the affected population by promoting safe WASH practices

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
• Program Support:
• Setting up and follow-up of hygiene promotion activities such as:
• Direct animation of community hygiene promotion sessions
• Identification, training, and follow-up of activities of community hygiene promotion volunteers
• Training of Trainers in hygiene promotion (to WASH committee members, teachers, health workers …),
• Setting up children’s clubs and hygiene promotion in schools
• Supervision of cleaning campaigns
• Ensure community mobilization on all WASH sector-related issues
• Oversee the distribution of hygiene, cleaning, and water treatment kit for health centers, schools, and families beneficiaries,
• Develop techniques for home water treatment in the target communities
• Ensure that the hygiene promotion activities are made based on the quality standards established by Save the Children through quality checklists
• Participate in the implementation of KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice) and initial and final PDM (Post Distribution Monitoring) for kits distributed
• Conduct water quality analyses at the household level (residual chlorine, bacteriological), in particular, to assess the effectiveness of home water treatment, and report results to Hygiene Promotion Officer.
• Weekly collection and reporting of data necessary for the consolidation of the project and strategic standard indicators (number of beneficiaries, number and type of activity performed, results of water analyses performed …)
• Monitoring of hygiene promotion activities realized by local partners of Save the Children such as the local NGOs, and participating in building their capacity.
• Weekly (or each time necessary) written and oral report for a line manager,
• Work with other team members of save the Children (WASH and non-WASH) working in the same communities, to ensure the integration and complementarity of the different sectors of the intervention.
• To perform any other work-related activities as agreed with your line management.
Emergency Preparedness and Response
• Actively participate in the Country Office’s emergency preparedness and planning processes with regard to hygiene promotion within the WASH program
• In case of emergency, be prepared to contribute to the delivery of an appropriate and timely response to WASH needs
General:

QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree or diploma degree relevant to the Job required with minimum of 1 years of working experience in the WASH sector in a humanitarian or development context
Experiance AND Skills
• Minimum 1 years of working experience in Health, Nutrition, WASH related humanitarian programs with a special focus on Hygiene promotion issues,
• Fluent in Arabic and very good in English,
• Experience in hygiene promotion,
• Excellent communication skills,
• Work experience with local communities, children and vulnerable people,
• Experience in community mobilization and participation,
• Commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability,
• Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation,
• Commitment to capacity building and developing others,
• Ability to write clear and well-argued assessments and project reports in Arabic and English,
• The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances,
• Commitment to the aims and principles of SCI. In particular, a good understanding of the SCI mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support,
• Computer skills : Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Desirable:
• Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
• Humanitarian programming experience.
