CANN Forecast (https://cannforecast.com/) is a dynamic start-up that uses artificial intelligence to develop decision support tools in the water sector. Our mission is to enhance the value of data to help municipalities be proactive in the management of our most precious resource on Earth: water.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to join our data scientists team. With the support of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to learn and improve their skills. Your tasks will be, but not be limited to:

  • Perform data analysis and exploration
  • Perform traditional hydrological modelling and floodplain mapping in an urban context, and compare results with the outputs of different types of machine learning models
  • Interpret the results of our models and translate them into actionable recommendations for our clients.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The ideal person for this position:

  • Has a university degree in a discipline related to: flood management, civil engineering, hydrology engineering, or geoscience.
  • Has past experience with hydrological modeling and floodplain mapping in an urban context
  • Has a good knowledge of time-series data
  • Has a strong interest to learn data science as part of this position
  • Ability to effectively visualize and organize data, ideally through Python libraries ( Numpy, pandas, matplotlib etc.) will be an asset
  • Past with predictive modeling will be an asset
  • Enjoys challenges
  • Possesses written and oral communication skills
  • Can understand and synthesize information accurately and concisely

WORK TERM AND SALARY

35h/week,

Salary range for this position: $28 – $33 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications.

Starts July, 2023.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The applicants must:

  • Have completed post-secondary studies
  • Have the legal right to work in Canada
  • Be either a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
