BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE APPOINTMENT:

Within the framework of the Country Strategic Plan 2023-2027, WFP will provide integrated support to enable climate change adaptation and more resilient livelihoods of vulnerable smallholder farmers and pastoralist communities and work towards minimizing the negative impact of climate change on natural resources and the overall food security of the country. In parallel, WFP aims to enhance the sustainable management of natural resources through land reclamation, water conservation, rangeland rehabilitation and forestry. The incumbent of this position is expected to support in the project implementation planning and take lead on management and monitoring of activities at the field level. The incumbent will work under the field operations and will have close technical coordination with WFP Country office programme , M&E units and other relevant units. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1.    Provide technical support and assist in the planning and implementation of various activities and processes within the natural resources management and climate change adaptation portfolio and support the alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
2.    Provide specialized project management support to the natural resources management and climate change adaptation programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
3.    Travel to field sites, as needed, to conduct fieldwork including focus group discussions, interviews, meetings, training or gather primary information and perform project oversight.
4.    Lead on evidence generation by proposing indicators and monitoring their achievements.
5.    Prepare a range of reports and data analysis and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
6.    Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within area of responsibility as well as consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
7.    Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
8.    Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform and deliver on the planned activities and to ensure efficient delivery.
9.    Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government counterparts. 
10.    Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems that may arise within the programme.
11.    Lead on constructive coordination between field office and programme and support other functions within WFP.
12.    Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis (if needed).
13.    Contribute to development and updates of Standard Operating Procedures necessary for smooth and compliant programme implementation.
14.    Other tasks as requested by Supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in one or more of the following disciplines: International Affairs, Social Protection, Social Sciences, Nutrition, or Project Management. University degree is desirable.

Experience: At least six years of progressively responsible work experience in livelihoods and resilience building projects, or agricultural development, water management, climate change adaptation, food security related programmes. Working experience in project management and project cycle will be an added advantage.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic and English.

WFP is following the UN salary scale in Jordan; the expected net pensionable salary ranges between 20,280 and 25,920 JOD per year; depending on the years of experience exceeding the minimum requirements.
