We are looking for a Principal Program Officer, to lead a small team and work with arrange of stakeholders to develop and drive implementation of policy, strategy and programs related to catchment management, wetlands, water quality and aquatic natural capital.

Your contribution:

As the Principal Program Officer AO7, Healthy Waters and Wetlands you will:

• Develop and manage challenging policy and governance elements as part of developing, designing and implementing strategic catchment management policies and programs in conjunction with key stakeholders.

• Undertake research and provide high level policy advice to senior management, stakeholders and governance bodies, preparing discussion papers, reports, submissions, correspondence, consultation strategies, briefing notes, presentations and other complex or high-level documents.

• Lead the development of projects, processes, and performance measures to ensure the efficient delivery of programs and services to stakeholders.

• Develop effective working relationships with other staff in the department, within the Queensland Public Sector, strategic partners and third-party service providers.

• Lead program and policy deliverables including initial planning, delivery and evaluation of specific projects.

• Provide support to the broader Healthy Waters and Wetlands team at times of peak activity, including assisting with engagement and project delivery activities when required.

• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.

About you:

•Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills in policy analysis and development, option development and analysis, legislative interpretation, and public policy processes in the context of complex environmental policy scenarios.

•Demonstrated high level project management skills, including the ability to take initiative and work autonomously or within a team to achieve results in a pressured and changing environment.

•Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise and consult effectively with personnel at all levels within and external to the organisation.

•Demonstrated excellent organisational and administrative skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise to meet competing demands and business needs and attention to detail.

•An understanding of catchment, water quality or wetland management or natural capital markets, and relevant qualifications would be highly regarded.
