We are looking to recruit an Integrated Planning and Development Engagement Manager in the KwaZulu Natal or Gauteng offices.

This individual will assist in the planning and preparation of infrastructure projects, amongst other duties and responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Will include but not be limited to: 

  • Providing technical inputs into feasibility and other studies.
  • Providing innovative solutions, including combinations of built and ecological infrastructure.
  • Assist in planning and preparation of infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate and quality assure deliverables in terms of timing and budget.
  • Project management and ability to strategically guide project teams to deliver quality products that achieve client satisfaction >90%.
  • Support day-to-day client relationship on a project.
  • Manage multiple and complex task and projects sustainably.
  • Demonstrate sound independent bid / workplan development.
  • Support proposal development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Must have an engineering related base degree, and associated master’s degree, in any of the following fields: Agriculture, civils, Environment, Land, Water, Renewable Energy, Climate Change, Disaster Risk, Resource/Environmental Economics, or another relevant field.
  • 6-7 years’ experience in technical and strategic natural resource management and development projects, infrastructure, sectoral strategic planning, and financing arrangements
  • Experience and exposure in engaging with natural resources management in the context of socio-economic and political economy dimensions of African countries and the importance of development planning and building resilience.

Preferred

  • Financial acumen is an advantage.
  • Project Management Certification is an advantage.
  • Fluency in French or Portuguese is an advantage.

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

This role calls for several specific skills and characteristics, including:

  • A keen interest and previous exposure to working across sectors in developing countries, particularly in Africa.
  • Exposure to multilateral development institutions or development finance institutions will be an added advantage.
  • Someone who can apply their engineering experience at a broader level and influence strategic level planning of development project.
  • Proven abilities to manage multiple and complex projects across sectors, with experience in project planning and project preparation, finance, and reporting.
  • Experience in working on local and regional development projects, particularly in Africa, and exposure to dealing with cooperating partners and funders.
  • Ability to engage clients at a range of levels, including senior bureaucrats, politicians, donors etc.
  • A demonstrable track-record of excellence and contributed towards project acquisition and compiling strong proposals / tenders.
