Job Description

WWF India is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to contribute to its Climate Change Hub Initiative, which focuses on the strategic development and mainstreaming of climate change adaptation activities across different landscapes, riverscapes and seascapes and other cross-cutting thematic areas. The Hub contributes to building adaptation and resilience capabilities and potential at the ecosystem level through increased uptake and scale-up of adaptive and resilience technologies, practices, community engagement, institutional arrangements and policy engagement thereby addressing both conservation and climate change adaptation priorities.

With a renewed approach of mainstreaming climate action into the conservation of biodiversity, the Climate Change Hub at WWF India will work to integrate climate change mitigation and adaptation into the conservation activities across different landscapes, seascapes and riverscapes in India.

Job Profile

  • Contribute to the Climate Hub activities, research and technical analysis related to climate change adaptation, resilience and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) across cross-cutting thematic areas like agriculture, water resources, forest and biodiversity, human and wildlife health, ecosystem services, natural climate solutions, carbon stock assessment including forest carbon accounting.
  • Develop policy/advocacy strategies and contribute to policy briefs and articles related to climate change adaptation issues at the state, national level and regional level.
  • Contribute to WWF India’s ongoing projects/activities for improved climate resilience and adaptation across various landscapes, riverscapes and seascapes.
  • Liaise between field offices and the WWF India Secretariat on various climate change adaptation initiatives and build relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Work with a multi-stakeholder approach to develop and implement projects related to climate change adaptation in priority areas of WWF India
  • Organize workshops/meetings, preparing background documents and other communication materials for wider dissemination and outreach
  • Responsible for meeting technical and financial reporting requirements for projects, as well as contribute to project-related activities ongoing through the Climate Hub
  • Meeting and building relationships with key stakeholders and potential partners (including relevant Government Ministries, industry associations, civil society/Think Tanks and other donors).
  • Project related travel as needed, including for representing the team and organisation.
  •  Flexibility to work on new initiatives and areas/topics.

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:

  • Master’s Degree in Climate Change/ Environmental Science/Natural Resource Management/Forestry/ Natural Sciences or related disciplines, from a recognized university,
    OR
  • MBA in Sustainable Business/Sustainability Management/Natural Resources
    OR
  • M. Tech. in Energy/ Environment Engineering/ climate change or related disciplines, from a recognized university
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant, post qualification, professional experience in in the area of Climate Change adaptation/resilience, Natural Resource Management, and allied fields.
  • Knowledge and proven experience of proposal and technical report writing, shall be an added advantage
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders from the Government, industry, donors/philanthropies, think tanks, financial institutions and. Past experience in working with Rural stakeholders will be an added advantage. 

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong research and analytical skills. Prior involvement in research-based projects and assessments is expected.
  • Proven experience of policy advocacy work will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication, project execution & planning skills
  • Excellent inter-personal and team skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, think strategically and display strong result-oriented approach
  • Full familiarity with relevant computer applications (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, any other modelling tools and applications, GIS, etc.)
