I’m looking for a Ph.D. student in Water Resources Engineering.
Responsibilities
They will work on water resources informatics and modeling using computational methods. They will have opportunities to use hydrologic & hydraulic (H&H) models, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and optimization techniques to solve challenging water resources problems.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include
- B.S. in Civil Engineering,
- M.S. in Water Resources Engineering,
- Records of peer-reviewed journal publications in English,
- Strong background in numerical methods,
- Experience in H&H modeling (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWAT, SWMM, VIC, MODFLOW, etc.),
- Experience in applications of machine learning to water resources problems, and
- Proven programming skills in any computer languages with a strong motivation to learn any of R, Python, C, and/or C# as needed.
Preferred but not required software and programming skills include
- ArcGIS, QGIS, and/or GRASS GIS,
- Linux shell programming, and
- Parallel, distributed, and/or network programming.
