Part-Time Master Watershed Steward Program Assistant in York County

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

This individual will assist the Master Watershed Steward Coordinator in York County. This position is administratively responsible to the County Master Watershed Steward Coordinator and the State Master Watershed Steward Coordinator.

The individual selected for this position will work with the County Master Watershed Steward Coordinator to: 

  • Recruit and select a diverse group of trainees to become new program volunteers 
  • Facilitate and support volunteer training classes  
  • Update and manage the county program’s volunteer reporting system, HandsOn Connect 
  • Administer surveys for program evaluation 
  • Manage volunteer recognition through collating volunteer hours and ordering certificates and name badges 
  • Plan recognition events  
  • Help identify and manage MWS projects
  • Maintain and update the York County Master Watershed Steward webpage 
  • Support newsletter creation and other communication means 
  • Prepare and submit financial documentation for purchases and deposits 
  • Coordinate, update, and schedule Master Watershed Steward Speakers’ Bureau talks 
  • Attend meetings and support project committees when appropriate 
  • Develop a working relationship with the volunteers and respond to their calls and emails 
  • Collect and organize data for program impact reports 
  • Engage community members as appropriate to promote Penn State Extension and the Master Watershed Steward Program 

Candidates must have strong computer skills to be considered for the role, including demonstrated competencies in using software such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, and multiple web browsers, as well as the ability to learn other applicable programs including HandsOn Connect, Plone, Qualtrics, Office 365 Suite applications, and Canva.

This position is part-time for 10 – 15 hours per week.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. 

This  job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances: 

  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check 
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form  
  • FBI Criminal Background   Check
