Are you after a team leader position that can make a difference to the states customer service and support the delivery of the sustainable use and allocation of water resources in Queensland?

This is an opportunity for a driven person to step in and lead an administrative team to support how we receive, distribute and assess water applications and dealings under the Water Act 2000 (which includes access to state resources such as water, sand and gravel and associated works). You will lead a small team coordinating workflows to support our client based enquiries and applications to receive their required assessment and decision making.

The Role
This position is responsible for leading the WaterHub Team based in Longreach and provides support and advice to staff within the Water Management and Use Team in licensing matters under the Water Act 2000. As a Water Officer, you will be a member of a larger team that manages the State’s Natural resources through the implementation of legislation and policy. You will proactively participate in an enthusiastic team to build on the positive, outcome-focused culture. This position will be based with the Water Resource Management team, focusing on Water Management and Use. However, you may be required to change focus depending on departmental priorities and requirements in other areas of the business.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Provide collaborative leadership and supervision to the WaterHub located within North Region
• Prioritise and coordinate workflow processes, managing multiple and conflicting deadlines to achieve performance targets in accordance with departmental priorities and objectives
• Undertake approvals, assessments and make recommendations of water applications and dealings under the Water Act 2000, Water Regulation 2016 and other Acts relating to water dealings
• Provide project support to the Water Management and Use team including recommending business improvements and undertake other emergent projects as requested by the Manager, Water Management
• Provide support to the WaterHub for the receipting for Water Resource Management related invoices in the department’s financial system including the updating of client data in the system and end of day procedures in accordance with policies and procedures
• Streamline business processes and implement business improvements through revised policies/work procedures
• Represent your team through active participation in internal state-wide forums
• Operate independently and as part of a high functioning team to meet the objectives outlined in the department’s strategic plan and business plans
• Maintain personal integrity and transparency with others
• Operate a variety of software packages to ensure quality customer service is delivered and maintained
• Other duties as directed and required.

Role requirements
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, a driver’s licence would be highly regarded.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods
