Delft, Netherlands 🇳🇱

Do you want to apply your knowledge regarding probabilistics and failure probabilities in the world of flood safety? If so, read on to find out how your job can help make the world safer from floodings.

What can you expect as probabilistic engineer?

As a junior probabilistic engineer you are mainly working on flood safety issues in the Netherlands. You will be responsible for quantifying failure probabilities of flood defenses, prioritizing knowledge and innovations and quantifying their impact.

Main tasks are:

  • Quantifying the impact of innovations on the failure probability of flood defenses. Examples include innovations concerning grass or stone revetment of a dike, the modeling of (wave) loading or the effect of uncertainties;
  • Interpreting the failure probabilities and communicating this in reports and presentations to partners, customers and stakeholders;
  • Performing calculations with the Probabilistic Toolkit software made by Deltares;
