POSITION DESCRIPTION

Moonshot Missions seeks an entry to mid-level Civil/Wastewater Engineer to serve as a technical resource to the organization. The preferred candidate will have hands-on experience working in wastewater operations and/or environmental compliance positions. This role will perform utility research, client engagement, complete wastewater treatment plant assessments (virtual and on-site) and assist the project manager in developing solutions for performance improvement.

POSITION TITLE – UTILITY ADVISOR- WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Time Commitment – 40 hours per week

Location – Remote position with required travel to client sites within the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering, environmental management/studies, and/or

biology.

· Professional Engineering (PE) license (preferred).

· Minimum of 4 years of water and wastewater, environmental, or municipal engineering experience.

· Experience working with public clients including municipalities is a plus

Duties and Responsibilities

· Collaborate with the Moonshot Missions team of experts to deliver optimal services to utility clients by:

  • Researching background information about utility operational challenges.
  • Evaluating utility operation to identify areas of improvement for performance optimization.
  • Assisting with project implementation.
  • Preparing technical reports and manuals.

· Provide technical assistance to wastewater treatment plants/operators for the prevention, reduction, and elimination of pollution, including issues related to:

  • Collecting NPDES permit compliance and process control samples from all phases of treatment and performing laboratory analysis.
  • Monitoring flow and other chemical parameters at the plant.
  • Implementing controls to ensure permit compliance.
  • Evaluation of data and maintenance of detailed records.
  • Troubleshooting operational problems including process microbiology.
  • Performing minor preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
  • Applicable safety rules and regulations.

Travel

– Travel required within the US, subject to funding and according to safety guidelines.

– (Moonshot Missions will reimburse travel costs)

Special Requirements

– Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
