Our Water policy team is currently seeking to appoint various Water Policy Officers to contribute to the development of Water management initiatives, policies and programs and to the delivery of the Division’s cabinet, legislative and regulatory programs
Water Policy Officers are key to helping in the development of policies relating to water management and regulation in an environment of wide-ranging stakeholder interests and a complex political landscape. They assist in development and provision of policy advice and preparing information on water management initiatives and legislation, Ministerial briefing notes and Cabinet submissions on water management issues. Water Policy Officers play a key role in supporting the scoping, management and delivery of policies and enabling the implementation of approved policies.
Water Policy Officers may also represent the department at consultations with industry, landholders, community groups and other key stakeholders to further understand concerns and policy issues, and to assist in developing effective policy solutions.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be a highly motivated policy professional with effective communication skills. It is desirable that you have experience in assisting in the development and implementation of Government policies.
You will be a critical thinker who can adapt and thrive in a fast-paced and high pressure environment and will be confident in working collaboratively within a team. An ability to quickly acquire an understanding of the State and Federal government’s water management agenda and the legislative framework for water management in NSW is essential.
