WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Restoration Technician II works closely with other staff to research and gather conservation planning data. The Restoration Technician II gathers and synthesizes data in order to inform conservation activities and implementation plans. They create conservation plans to identify priorities and develop restoration plans for implementation. They may work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, in hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.

We’re looking for an individual with water resources field experience and GIS analysis who wants to make a difference. Come join TNC and apply today! Responsibilities include:
GIS and desktop studies / analysis
- Map and assess natural resources and conservation information to support TNC decision making in conservation and restoration projects related to water quality and quantity
- Carry out pre-defined analysis for prioritization of restoration and conservation activities
- Develop methodology for science and conservation-based studies
Field-based data collection and survey
- Assist in collection of soil and water samples to support a wetland study on nutrient removal and carbon storage
- Assist in field collection of hydrologic data from monitoring wells and water quality sampling at various TNC sites
- Assist in stream geomorphology surveys and functional assessment of streams and stream crossings
- Conduct plant community surveys estimating species coverage and abundance
- Assist in soil studies related to soil health, organic matter, carbon and other soil properties in conservation and/or agricultural BMP studies
- Carry out data collection to support TNC restoration and management projects within the Chapter’s 3-state territory
- Organize and analyze data
Project Management
- Assist with wetland restoration and oversee parts of the implementation
- Assess wetland restoration plans and designs
- Contract management
- Coordination with other staff and occasionally with partners
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s Degree in science, engineering or natural-resources-related field and 1-year experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience collecting data in the field
- Knowledge of ecological principles and preferably, hydrology, soils and native plant I.D.
- Hands-on experience with restoration or management projects, preferably involving aquatic environments and/or wetlands
- Ability to work outdoors frequently, in wetlands, often with difficult walking conditions
- Experience with GIS software and data to create maps.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
The salary range for this position is $47,000 to $52,000.
