Job DescriptionThe Urban Forest Ecosystems Lab in the Department of Agricultural & Environmental
 Sciences at Tennessee State University (TSU) is seeking a highly motivated and productive
 candidate for the position of Post-doctoral Researcher. This is a 12-month, full-time position
 with the possibility of an extension depending on job performance and funding availability.
 This position is designed to lead a U.S. Forest Service-funded project on Urban Forests,
 Extreme Climate, and Urban Watersheds in the South. The overall objective of this project is
 to explore the impacts of climate change and urbanization on urban tree canopy cover and
 related ecosystem services (e.g., urban cooling and stormwater runoff mitigation) in the
 region. The selected candidate will work closely with a diverse and multidisciplinary team
 consisting of researchers/experts in the areas of urban forestry, hydrology, biology,
 meteorology, ecology, and social science from TSU and the U.S. Forest Service (including
 Southern Research Station and Northern Research Station – NYC Urban Field Station). The
 expected responsibilities include leading and implementing the project, preparing project
 reports, publishing peer-reviewed articles and disseminating project findings to a broad
 audience, mentoring graduate and undergraduate and graduate students on the project where
 appropriate, and assisting with other relevant project tasks assigned by the project team
 when needed.
Minimum QualificationsSuccessful candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in urban forestry, hydrology, ecology,
or a closely relevant field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proven
record to publish in peer-reviewed journals are required. Preference will be given to
applicants with demonstrated strong remote sensing, GIS, modeling, analytical, and
statistical skills as well as teamwork spirit. Experience working with large datasets and
interdisciplinary projects/issues will be a plus.
