Job description
The Environment Agency work in partnership with government, local councils, businesses, and communities to manage the impacts of climate change, perhaps the most serious long-term threat to the environment, people, and wildlife that we face.
You will be enthusiastic and organised, with good planning, communication, and data management skills to support the technical specialists in the team to identify opportunities to improve the water environment, through:
• Our catchment data management system
• River basin management plans
• Water company investment plans
• Natural capital planning
• Delivery with customers and partners
Depending on your skills, interests, and team priorities, you can contribute to a wide variety of activities completed within our team, including:
• data visualisation through GIS mapping
• catchment planning
• strategic monitoring programme work.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
The Integrated Environment Planning Team works to strengthen our evidence base and drive integrated delivery to achieve the best for Thames’s environment.
The team includes specialists focusing on:
• River Basin Planning
• Monitoring Commission
• Water Quality
• Water Company investment programmes
• Drought management.
We work with other teams in the area and nationally to shape ways of working and contribute to the area Local Outcome Plan and Defra’s 25-Year-Plan.
Experience/skills required
• Sound organisational skills and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work
• Well-developed communication/influencing skills
• Experience gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/information
• Ability to work with and summarise environmental data for use by internal and external customers
• Confident working under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team
• Proactive networker, who enjoys working with a range of customers to understand and integrate their needs
