Salary £34,562 – £36,556 (dependent on skills and experience)

A bit about you… 

You are passionate about working with people and problem solving, identifying areas to help efficiency and savings within projects and processes. Confident in the way you create, collate and prepare internal reports and documents. You form great working relationships with team members, working collaboratively across multiple projects with a diverse team of researchers.  

You are enthusiastic and flexible in your approach to work, finding ways to continuously work on self-development as you juggle a varying workload with deadlines. You are invested in the overall aims and objectives of the work at UKCEH.  You are responsible for the integrity of each project following standard project management protocols, to ensure against risks.  

In Hydro Climate Risks you will be working on projects that support the development of hydrological modelling to support flood estimation in data-sparse regions and for future scenarios and activities behind the development and application of a state-of-the-art land surface model, including its use for climate and Earth System model predictions 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Daily management and monitoring of multiple projects, applying all project management procedures  
  • Work closely with the Project Lead to understand the strategic aims of the project and work packages 
  • Produce the appropriate procedures, terms of reference and monitoring documents required to enable that the project is delivered in scope, on time and within cost 
  • Create a finance plan and timeline for the delivery of projects and iterate appropriately 
  • Liaise with programme committees, project teams and corporate functions to coordinate activities 
  • Organise events, conferences, workshops, and meetings, including creating the agenda and structure and understanding the outcomes and objectives required 
  • Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders internally and externally about the aims of the project and the work of UKCEH 

Here are some essentials we are looking for 

  • 2+ years of Project Coordination, with good understanding of project management protocols  
  • Able and willing to travel within the UK and overseas, should the need arise for meetings and conferences of short duration 

We would be delighted if you also had the following skills/experience: 

  • Hold a recognised qualification in Project Management – Prince2, APM, MPI or relevant experience (wiliness to undertake qualifications during the first 12 months of employment)
