POSITION TITLE: GETF Local Project Coordinator (Consultant)

LOCATION: Mexico City

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Program Director in Washington, D.C., Donor Manager in Mexico

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Third-party contractors

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: Consultancy will last one year to start with the potential for an extension.

EXPECTED LEVEL OF EFFORT: 20-30 hours per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Global Environment & Technology Foundation (GETF) seeks an experienced water conservation/restoration professional as a Local Project Coordinator liaison. The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and steward protection and restoration projects across Mexico.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management and demonstrated water-sector experience. He or she will be responsible for strategic planning, development, coordination, tracking, and reporting activities to implement projects successfully. The Local Project Coordinator will also coordinate monitoring activities, oversee contractors, and work with GETF staff and other partners to further our client’s mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the proposal request and selection process, financial reporting, and strategic alignment for the donor.
  • Collaborate with staff and external partners to identify project priorities and funding needs for the donor projects.
  • Manage the proposal development process and pre-award issues for a diverse applicant portfolio.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to grantees throughout the entire grant cycle, from advising and mentoring grantees on donor priorities as they apply the grant guidelines to their proposals to providing guidance and training to awardees on effective project implementation and successful management of grant funding.
  • Assemble a stakeholder committee and donor team to review all proposals and facilitate project selection.
  • Manage all components of specific grants, including preparing and editing grant applications and reports and fulfilling grant deliverables.
  • Communicate the grant program’s goals, operational plans, and strategic vision throughout all levels of the donor, GETF, and external partner teams.
  • Maintain and build relationships with grantees and other strategic stakeholders on a local, state, and regional level.
  • Oversee the post-award processes through impact reporting, invoice submission and by tracking progress toward organizational and programmatic outcomes and goals.
  • Organize and participate in field tours and site visits with donors and implementing partners.
  • Represent GETF at external events.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required for GETF.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Four-year degree required; master’s degree a plus.
  • Knowledge of grant proposal guidelines and previous experience managing projects in Mexico.
  • At least four years of relevant work experience developing and administering grants for conservation and restoration projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, meet deadlines, and efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities under tight time constraints and in a highly organized manner.
  • Bilingual: excellent written and verbal communication, research, and analytical skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Engaging and enthusiastic when working with leaders and staff; ability to build and cultivate relationships with a broad range of local leaders, stakeholders and community contacts.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively; supervisory experience a plus.
  • A solid commitment to GETF’s mission.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
