Director (SO) – Strategic Compliance Intelligence, and Investigations Operating from within the Water Resource Management Division, you will be responsible for leading the department’s strategic regulatory approach, intelligence, major investigations and prosecutions, and leading the Divisions GIS and Spatial capabilities. This role provides key support to critical programs and operational delivery of the departments regulatory strategy. You will lead change initiatives that drive critical business improvement and state-wide consistency to ensure the effective regulation of the water sector. As the Director, Strategic Compliance, Intelligence and Investigations you will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team and working collaboratively to embed a culture of continuous improvement and support delivery of the department’s role as a best practice Water Regulator.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

• Lead and manage service delivery across a range of functions and projects that deliver business improvement, compliance capability and develop systems and frameworks to support effective outcomes. Services include, operational support and guidance, systems, reporting and investigations into serious non-compliance, intelligence, GIS and spatial services for the whole Department, and being a key contributor to the Department’s Rural Water Futures program which is a transformational multi-year project for the water business.

• Ensuring consistent regulatory outcomes across Queensland by partnering with compliance teams in the Department’s region.

• Collaborate across DRDMW to enable the delivery of a range of projects across key functional areas that contribute to the department’s strategic objectives within tight timeframes.

• Represent the Department on national committees related to regulation in the Murray-Darling Basin and collaborate with other Basin State regulators and government agencies.

• Prepare complex briefings and submissions for the Minister, the Premier, the Director-General and other senior government officials and stakeholders providing timely and accurate advice on complex issues.

• Develop and maintain strong and collaborative relationships and project delivery across the Water Resource Management Division to enable consistent services and programs/projects.

• Other duties as directed and required.
